Patrick Nelson
Associate
Patrick is an Associate at Shibley Righton LLP, working exclusively with the Condominium Law Group. Since being called to the bar in 2020, Patrick has developed a robust practice, advising clients on a wide range of condominium law matters. He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court, and the Ontario Court of Appeal, but now operates almost entirely as a solicitor. His expertise includes assisting clients with owners’ meetings, statutory compliance issues, and the preparation of governing documents.
Patrick graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa, where he was on the Dean’s Honour List. During law school, he was a Dean’s Research and Writing Fellow, completing a significant research project on aeronautical regulations, and served as a teaching assistant for the first-year Principles of Legal Research course. His academic achievements and dedication to research laid a strong foundation for his legal career.
During law school, Patrick gained valuable experience as a research assistant, coached the Arnup Cup Trial Moot, and interned with the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC). At CIPPIC, he co-authored submissions to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology for the 2018 Statutory Review of the Copyright Act.
Outside of his professional life, Patrick enjoys traveling, high-intensity interval training, and assembling computer systems.
